What the activity is like

Before you get in the water, the instructor walks you through the basic stance, how to hold the rope, and how to pop up smoothly once the boat starts pulling. First-timers usually begin on their knees or with the board angled until they find their balance; if you've ridden before, the instructor picks up the pace so you can work on jumps and turns. A wakeboarding session at Anfi del Mar builds from there, between harmless falls and the moments you manage to hold your line on the wake, with the south coast of Gran Canaria as your backdrop.
